Following the release of their The Trinity EP last holiday, The LOX have been quietly returning to form in preparations for their long-awaited third studio album We Are the Streets 2. While the two are still finishing up the project, DJ Mister Cee decides to liberate a throwback at noon mix for his long-time comrades from north of the city in Y.O.

Featuring most of their recognizable tracks from Money, Power & Respect, We Are the Streets, Ruff Ryders compilations and their solo projects, we get a well-balanced playlist that even offers some material we haven’t heard since the days of the non-skinny jean era. Although Donnie G hasn’t announced any of that street shit we’re missing right now, you can stay tuned for S. Pinero the Ghost’s new album Phantom & The Ghost coming next month as well as the Top 5, Dead Or Alive from Jadakiss.

Trae Tha Truth is back with a new street heater as he links with The LOX for “Reckless” from his upcoming album. Listen as all four emcees get real reckless on this hard ass beat, which got us praising lyric driving hip-hop once again. Trae Tha Truth sure does know how to put together records and he doesn’t show any sign of slowing it up anytime soon.

Look out for his upcoming album Banned coming out later this year on Grand Hustle.

Heres a new one from The LOX collective as they rep for where they from (when don’t they?) with “New York City.” Listen as they prove why they been going so hard for 20 plus years and still some of the best doing it when it comes to this gutta shit. Nothing better than some hard bars that we have been getting lately as we can see a change in the music shifting and going back to spitting some real lyrics.

Look out for that new The LOX album from Al-Queda Jada, The Ghost and Louchiano coming soon.

Yonkers legendary trio, The Lox way back to “The World’s Most Dangerous Morning Show”, The Breakfast Club. Although Sheek Louciano couldn’t make it, the conversation piloted Holiday Styles and Kiss discussing the pre-release of their Trinity EP.

Beyoncé coincidentally released her new album the same night they were brainstorming and inspired them to go digital; which was their best move in years. Kiss went on to reiterate his long-awaited album Top 5 Dead Or Alive is still on the way; which he didn’t discredit his current label for its delay, but has used the time to polish up his album over the years.

Following the success of their EP, the group has now gone on to officially become free agents as of two weeks ago. Their third studio album We Are the Streets 2 is still in the works and warned us to expect another EP before the big album. Check after the jump for the full interview discussing an imminent Ma$e return, Jae Hood, the possibility of a Lox reality show, Love & Hip Hop NY and more.

The Lox Debate State Of NYC Music & Talk “The Trinity” EP

lx
Click image to watch The Lox interview with The Hot 97 Morning Show video.

Last week, The LOX released a 4-track EP dubbed The Trinity and cited the BEYONCÉ album’s success being influential for the group to go ahead and make the project an iTunes release. The trio was recently on the Hot 97 Morning Show Cipha Sounds and Ebro to discuss their new EP, which has finally put pressure on labels to take them serious after the release last week.

Jadakiss cited problems of his own having his fourth studio album Top 5, Dead Or Alive complete but sadly revealed some of the records may never see the light of the day due paperwork. Pinero and Sheek Louch have been positioned to release projects independently while Kiss has been on a major in last few years.

The conversation continued into the state of NYC Hip-Hop, which they showed love to recent projects like The S.O.U.L. Tape 3, White Christmas 2, New York: A Love Story, as well as Joey Bada$$, Action Bronson and Chinx Drugz among others.

Last night, The LOX set it off with The Trinity digital release for the streets. Today they’re taking it back to the mixtape shit with a new freestyle, over that godbody “Nosetalgia” instrumental from Pusha T‘s My Name Is My Name album. As you would expect, Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek all came out shooting.

Not only that, but they also cooked up a D-BLOCK collaborative freestyle to another single, “Sweet Serenade.” Listen to that after the jump.
