Composure, confidence, and determination. Those are just a few of the many traits that every MLB pitcher needs to possess. Being thrown into a night game in the Bronx, in late September, isn’t the easiest of task. Pitchers face that and many other different stressful scenarios day in and day out, with varied results. This is all a part of the job they all signed up for, to go against the best competition in the world. Now going through all of that and being a rookie, you can only hope you have the tools necessary to shine in the spotlight.
Reaching the ultimate goal you’ve dreamed of for so long can be the best feeling out there. The real work comes after that. You have to make sure you can keep your progress. Keeping your current status, as a rookie, in a league filled with guys like Miguel Cabrera isn’t too common. Not all can come out in their first season and throw a no hitter, like Chris Heston. All just want to maintain good enough numbers to stay right where they are. In the position they’ve been dreaming of since they first started to play the game of baseball.
