Sucker-Punched: Bradley Upsets Pacquiao In A Split Decision

The People’s Champ Falls As Timothy Bradley Gets Split-Decision Win Over Manny Pacquiao

Heading into Saturday’s big fight, the crowd of 14,000+ in the MGM Grand Garden expected Manny Pacquiao to win over Timothy Bradley with favorable 4-1 odds. Early in the fight, Bradley was hindered by a left ankle twist in the second round that bothered him until the sixth but managed to rally and win the fight. Pacquiao landed 94 more punches than Bradley but that didn’t convince 2 of the 3 judges to give him the victory. Two of the three fight judges ruled in favor of Bradley at 115-113 making him the new WBO Welterweight champion. This was Pacquiao’s first loss since March of 2005 while Timothy Bradley remains undefeated holding both the WBO Welterweight and Light Welterweight belts.

Funny, there wasn’t the same outrage from tonight displayed previously when Juan Manuel Marquez “lost” all 3 fights against Pacquiao in non-convincingly fashion similar to tonight’s fight. Now maybe Bob Arum has eyes set on a new fighter to carry the sport of boxing with the Mayweather, Pacquiao fight having little to no chance of happening now.
