NBA Game Of The Week: Lakers/Celtics Preview

Kobe Bryant Doesn’t Care About A Shoulder As Lakers Move To Must Win Situation In Beantown.

LA Lakers at Boston

One of the greatest rivalries in sports picks back up tonight with a showdown in Boston between the Lakers and Celtics. Though neither team is firing on all cylinders right now, it is still a very intriguing match-up. From the Celtics standpoint they are playing in a post Rajon Rondo world as he is out for the season due to a torn ACL. Surprisingly though they have been able to roll off 5 wins in a row in his absence, including nice victories over the Heat and the Clippers.

The Celtics are a very interesting team going into the trade deadline as they could possibly be looking to move some players and do a total team reboot. Hard to imagine them trading KG or Pierce if they keep winning these big games, but we will have to wait and see.

Now onto the circus that is the Lakers. They have been a mess all year but have won six of seven games and three in a row. However the loss of Pau Gasol for at least six weeks in their last game really hurts them. Then there is this whole Kobe vs. Dwight Howard saga that took a turn today when Kobe publicly called out Dwight and said he needs to start playing.

The Lakers really can’t afford to lose many more games as they are fighting for their playoff lives night in and night out. They are currently three games out of the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. This prime-time game tonight should be an all out war between two teams that are desperate for all the wins they can get.
