Was this a fluke or has this year’s LSU team been exposed early?

We all know the SEC is one of the toughest conferences in college football and on any given day your favorite team could lose during conference play. But who could predict the beating Mississippi State put on LSU today? Not even Nostradamus.

The Tigers were embarrassed at home in front of 102,321 Death Valley faithfuls, including LSU Alumn Shaq, who was rallying the crowd during pre-game warmups. Ignited by junior quarterback Dak Prescott, the Bulldogs jumped out on LSU quickly and never looked back as they led 17-3 at the half. Prescott ended the game with two passing touchdowns, 268 yards through the air and 105 yards rushing to lead Mississippi State to victory.

Despite a late push by the Tigers to make the score respectable (trailed 31-10 after 3 quarters thanks to a Mississippi St. defense who allowed only a field goal through three quarters of play), fans left stunned and disgusted as they watched time expire on a disappointing 34-29 loss. LSU had one last shot on a hail mary, but that attempt fell short when Will Redmond intercepted the pass at the goal line.

The win gave the Bulldogs their first win in Baton Rouge since Nov. 16, 1991 and their first win against them since 1999. Mississippi State’s 588 total yards, is the most allowed on a Les Miles LSU team in the history of his tenure.
