Last night during the NBA on ESPN pre-game show, the greatest mind ever in basketball, Magic Johnson spoke briefly about his displeasure with the Los Angeles Lakers organization. The Wizard speaks on the Lakers making two bad mistakes which we also agree with in the hiring of both Mikes’. Initially, the basketball world thought it was a lock for Phil Jackson to return to coaching the Purple-N-Gold as two nights in a row at Staples Center “We Want Phil” chants poured throughout the arena both games.
The problem came when Jim Buss led Phil Jackson on to believe he was going to be re-hired for the third time to coach the Lakers even with his agent taking a red-eye flight to LAX from JFK but would find out Mike D’Antoni was hired upon arriving in Los Angeles. Magic felt disgusted with the organization after not being straightforward with Phil and even went on to say Jeff Van Gundy sitting to his left was his choice to become the next Lakers head coach which we agreed with in our article a few days ago.
