Klay Thompson Breaks NBA Record for Most Points Scored in a Quarter

Watch NBA history in the video above!

Friday night at the Oracle Arena, the Golden State Warriors were home for a game against Pacific Division rival, the Sacramento Kings. While the play remained competitive through the first half, Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson would erupt in the third quarter pouring in 37 points. Not for the entire game, but for the third quarter, alone. In the first half, the splash brother scored a respectable 13 points on 3/9 shooting; but had the entire stadium and his opponents in amazement, for arguably the greatest shooting performance of all time.

With the league’s best shooter, Steph Curry, watching in amazement, Klay would go perfect for the entire quarter to shoot lights out. This soon continued into the fourth quarter where he would keep playing until he missed his first shot. Golden State Head Coach, Steve Kerr didn’t want to run up the score anymore and pulled out his star hot-shooter from the game – using an arena fire extinguisher to cool him up for the night.

“Not too many players can play like Klay Thompson. He can shoot the ball, post up, he has mid-range game, pull up left, pull up right, turn right shoulder, turn left shoulder – HE IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE”. Kobe Bryant

He now breaks the all-time record for most points scored in a single quarter, previously held by Carmelo Anthony and also breaks Joe Johnson’s record (8) for most three-pointers made in a quarter from 2013 with Brooklyn. His historic third quarter stats are followed: 13-13 FG, 9-9 3FG, and 2-2 FT to total 37 points!

. . .and if his new career high of 52 points last night doesn’t get him into the all-star game with the league’s highest seed in the Western Conference, then we seriously don’t know what’s wrong with the NBA coaching selection.
