David Ortiz Destroys New MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for Updated Game Rules

Is the MLB trying to do too much to adjust to society?

Spring training for the upcoming 2015 season kicked off early this week. While the New York Yankees have been the center of the attention, Boston Redsox slugger David Ortiz spoke openly on the previously non-talked updated rule changes to speeding up the game of baseball. Last January, Bud Selig stepped down as commissioner of MLB after 23 years and we were introduced to his successor, Rob Manfred.

The new commissioner is already looking to make adjustments to the sport and attract younger audiences that may find the game a bit slow. While he’s teased the idea of changing the playoff format and shortening the season, an implemented batter’s box rule to keep one fight in throughout each bat has been added.

The plan is to speed up the game lengths from an average of 3 ½ hours, but Big Papi isn’t sold on anything they’ve done in the off-season that will affect the time-span of games. Watch his rant in the video above.
