PBS gets the in-depth talk with the singer
It’s crazy to think, but D’Angelo hasn’t been interviewed on TV for over a decade. The streak ended this week when he appeared on The Tavis Smiley Show, which proved to be a very in-depth conversation with the singer about an array of topics.
Among the things the two spoke about include how his Pentecostal upbringing shaped his music, being influenced by the likes of Prince, Sly and the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield and more and the process of how he got to the release of Black Messiah. Tavis almost stumped him on a few questions, really making D’Angelo think and give a clear answer, but for fans of his music this is a definite must-watch.
