Kendrick Lamar Talks Relationship with Drake & J. Cole After “Control”

K. Dot plotting fall 2014 takeover with his first single in two years!

Earlier today, Kendrick Lamar released his first single since 2012, with the inspirational and soon to be number one record, I. With new music finally arriving to follow his debut opus good kid, m.A.A.d city nearly two years later, the Compton rapper made his way over to the good folks of Power 106 for an interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood. A few weeks ago, K. Dot celebrated the anniversary of his “Control” verse, which literally shook up hip-hop as the biggest breath of fresh air to the genre since the “Ether vs. Takeover” days in 2001.

K. Dot opened up about the song, thinking he was just having fun initially since it was his hip-hop peers, but realized after his verse that it had been about 10-15 years since the rap game was shaken up like that. Big Boy also asked where he was at relationship wise with J. Cole and Drake, which prompted Kendrick to say, “It’s all love, I respect them all as artists and personally as people, and I hate how the media tried to pit young brothers against each other.”
