Who could forget the Denzel Washington-starred American Gangster film based on Frank Lucas’ rise to kingpinship? It spawned an album from Jay-Z, and a total of 21 nominations for various awards, including a pair of Academy Awards nominations.
But did you know 50 Cent auditioned for a part in the film? He wanted to play Huey Lucas, brother of Frank (who’s part ultimately went to Chiwetel Ejiofor of current 12 Years A Slave fame) and one of the bosses in the drug empire. Like any other entertaining Fif video, this one came with on-demand tears during Scene 3 of the audition tape, and a random woman reading lines with him. And it wasn’t even all that bad.
File this under classic unreleased Curtis Jackson footage.
