Zendaya Explains Backing Out of Aaliyah Biopic

Zendaya appears in the Dec 2015 / Jan 2016 issue of COMPLEX

19-year-old star, Zendaya is currently in the process of readying her upcoming sophomore title and has the likes of Timbaland, Babyface and Diane Warren as some contributors to the project.

Before she starts her official roll-out, the Bay Area songstress is featured in the new December/January issue of Complex Magazine to talk about past endeavors are one of the Disney graduates and future plans in entertainment. During her interview with the publication, Zendaya opened up on the real reason why she turned down the role to star in the Lifetime Aaliyah biopic last year – which was the best thing she could’ve done, career wise.

After receiving unnecessary criticism on social media, she discussed how the film was essentially being rushed and didn’t like how the late singer-actor would be portrayed in the project.

Take a look at a behind-the-scenes clip from her photo-shoot below and more from the interview.
