Written and directed by Jon Stewart, the forthcoming drama Rosewater is based on Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy’s 2011 memoir titled Then They Came For Me.
Gael García Bernal, who is known for roles in the likes of Amores Perros and Babel, is the lead character in the movie. The storyline follows the life of a journalist named Maziar Bahari, who travels to Iran to cover the presidential election for a magazine. In the midst of speaking to the country’s people, he is consequently detained at Evin Prison for 118 days due to the government’s view of him as a foreign spy, while his pregnant fiancée patiently waits in London in hope for his return.
The film will be out on November 7th.
