Here’s what’s arriving to Netflix this month!

With the month of August over and the summer winding down, TV series you may have missed from fall 2014 pilots have finally reached Netflix. The service is also reaching a new major market today, as residents of Japan now have the streaming giant. Over the weekend, Netflix finally premiered their new crime-drama series Narcos, which centers on the infamous Medellín drug cartel and kingpin Pablo Escobar. While it’s an August premiere, it’s something we’ll be watching throughout the month of September, along with these new video releases.

Dramas

1. Hamlet, September 1
Mel Gibson and Glenn Close star in this 1990 drama, based on the classic Shakespearean tragedy of the same name.

2. Hardball, September 1
Keanu Reeves stars as an aimless young man who is scalping tickets, gambling and drinking, and agrees to coach a Little League team from the Cabrini Green housing project in Chicago as a condition of getting a loan from a friend.

3. Mississippi Damned, September 1
The 2009 drama stars Adam Clark, Malcolm Goodwin, and Michael Hyatt as three poor African-America kids in rural Mississippi who reap the consequences of their family’s cycle of abuse, addiction, and violence.

4. Up in the Air, September 1
With a job traveling around the country firing people, Ryan Bingham enjoys his life living out of a suitcase, but finds that lifestyle threatened by the presence of a new hire and a potential love interest. George Clooney and Anna Kendrick star.

5. Black or White, September 2
Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer star in this 2014 drama, about a grieving widower who is drawn into a custody battle over his granddaughter, whom he helped raise her entire life.

6. Miss Julie, September 2
Starring Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell, the romance drama takes place over the course of a midsummer night in Fermanagh in 1890 and follows an unsettled daughter of the Anglo-Irish aristocracy who encourages her father’s valet to seduce her.

7. About Elly, September 11
A young teacher disappears before being introduced to a potential suitor in northern Iran in this 2009 film.

8. God Bless the Child, September 11
Five siblings, left on their own, spend a summer’s day full of fantasy and chaos.

9. Madame Bovary, September 11
Trapped in a loveless marriage and desperate for excitement, a doctor’s wife (Mia Wasikowska) seeks love and fulfillment outside the bonds of matrimony.

10. The Road Within, September 14
A young man with Tourette’s Syndrome embarks on a road trip with his recently-deceased mother’s ashes.

11. Moonrise Kingdom, September 15
This Wes Anderson-directed film follows a pair of young lovers who flee their New England town, which causes a local search party to fan out to find them.

12. Philomena, September 22
A world-weary political journalist picks up the story of a woman’s search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in a convent.

13. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, September 29
Idris Elba stars in this chronicling of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa.

Thriller

14. The Bank Job, September 14
When Terry agrees to take on a foolproof bank hit and targets a roomful of safe deposit boxes worth millions in cash and jewelry, he his crew don’t realize the boxes also contain a treasure trove of dirty secrets – secrets that will thrust them into a deadly web of corruption and illicit scandal.

15. Reservation Road, September 15
The lives of two families change forever after a fatal tragedy takes place on Reservation Road. Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo, and Jennifer Connelly star.

16. The Loft, September 23
Five married guys conspire to secretly share a penthouse loft in the city–a place where they can carry out hidden affairs and indulge in their deepest fantasies. 18. Bad Night, September 4
When Kate and Abby are mistaken for famous art thieves, their fun night out quickly goes from good to bad. Lauren Elizabeth Luthringshausen and Jenn McAllister star.

19. Why Did I Get Married?, September 12
Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, and Sharon Leal star in the big screen adaptation of Perry’s stage play about the trials of marriage, and what happens to one family when a sexy young temptress arrives on the scene.

Fantasy

20. Masters of the Universe, September 1
The 1987 fantasy flick follows a prince turned warrior named He-Man, who battles against the dark lord Skeletor on the planet Eternia. He-Man and his comrades arrive on Earth and discover two teenage lovers to find the magical Cosmic Key

21. The Monster Squad, September 1
A young group of monster fanatics attempt to save their hometown from Count Dracula and his army of monsters.

Horror

22. Sleepy Hollow, September 1
The 1999 film, starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, follows Ichabod Crane as he is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman.

Documentary

23. Our Man in Tehran, September 1
An exploration of the true story behind Ben Affleck’s Oscar- winning film Argo from the man who knows it best: Ken Taylor, Canada’s former ambassador to Iran, who hid the six Americans in his official residence and obtained the counterfeit documents that allowed them to make their dramatic escape from Tehran.

24. Pandas: The Journey Home, September 1
Get unprecedented access into the world of pandas and follow one in particular, Tau Tau, as he is released into the bamboo forest to begin a new life living wild.

25. It Happened Here, September 12
Through the intimate portraits of five student survivors, the documentary exposes the alarming pervasiveness of sexual assault on college campuses, the institutional cover-ups and the failure to protect students, and follows their fight for accountability and change on campus and in federal court.

26. The Roughnecks, September 12
Filmmaker Richard Cameron White spends four months with the Ridglea Roughnecks of Fort Worth, Texas, during their final season of pee wee football.

27. Keith Richards: Under the Influence, September 18
The documentary provides an”unprecedented look” at Richards’ influences, songwriting process and guitar playing. The film, which was made as Richards prepared his first solo record in over two decades Crosseyed Heart, features interviews, archival material and footage of him recording new music.

28. Iris, September 24
The documentary follows Iris Apfel, the quick-witted, flamboyantly dressed 93-year-old style maven who has had an outsized presence on the New York fashion scene for decades.

TV

29. Person of Interest: Seasons 1-3, September 1 (Season 4 arriving on 9/22)
The CBS series follows an ex-assassin and a wealthy programmer save lives via a surveillance AI that sends them the identities of civilians involved in impending crimes. However, the details of the crimes–including the civilians’ roles–are left a mystery.

30. Longmire: Season 4, September 9
The former A&E show series returns to the screen, this time on Netflix. The fourth season picks up with Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) having found out who was behind the murder of his wife and setting off to avenge her death. Meanwhile, Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believes he has already figured out who the real culprit is.

31. Portlandia: Season 5, September 12
The satirical sketch comedy television series, set and filmed in and around Portland, Oregon, stars Carrie Brownstein (lead guitarist/singer for Sleater-Kinney and Wild Flag) and former Saturday Night Live cast member Fred Armisen.

32. The Blacklist: Season 2, September 15
Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen, a new FBI profiler has her entire life uprooted when a mysterious criminal, Raymond Reddington, on the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted List turns himself in and insists on speaking to her.

33. The Mysteries of Laura, September 17
Debra Messing stars as a single mom NYPD homicide detective who cracks case after case while raising wild twin boys and locking horns with her less than helpful police detective ex-husband.

34. Gotham, September 21
The freshman season of Fox’s hit series chronicles the story behind Commissioner James Gordon’s rise to prominence in Gotham City in the years before Batman’s arrival.

35. The Following: Season 3, September 21
Fox’s Kevin-Bacon starrer follows a brilliant and charismatic, yet psychotic serial killer, who communicates with other active serial killers and activates a cult of believers following his every command.

36. Blue Bloods: Season 5, September 25
CBS’s police procedural stars Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan, the chief of police in New York and patriarch of the Reagan clan, a multigenerational family of cops.

37. Hawaii Five-O: Season 5, September 25
The series covers the actions of a small special state task force created by the Governor of Hawaii, Gov. Pat Jameson, to investigate serious crimes throughout the Islands, as Hawaii does not have a conventional state police force. The team is headed by Lt. Commander Steve McGarrett, USNR as it investigates crimes ranging from terrorism to kidnapping.

38. Parenthood: Season 6, September 25
The NBC family drama revolves around the Braverman family covering three generations. It features patriarch Zeek Braverman and matriarch Camille Braverman, and the families of their four children Adam, Sarah, Crosby, and Julia.

39. The Walking Dead: Season 5, September 27
The fifth season of the AMC series continues the journey of a group of survivors led by Rick Grimes, a former sheriff’s deputy, in a search for sanctuary, as they face new threats from both walkers and other human survivors.

40. Bones: Season 10, September 29
The Fox crime drama stars Emily Deschanel as Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, a forensic anthropologist, and wife of Seeley Booth and David Boreanaz as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, who is the official FBI liaison with the Jeffersonian, and husband of Temperance Brennan
