It’s safe to say the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton is a box office smash at this point and it’s going across the pond starting today. The film premiered in the UK this weekend and with the success it’s had in the states, it’s only going to double overseas.
During a promo run in England, Krept and Konan caught up with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Jason Mitchell (who play Ice Cube and Eazy E, respectively) to show them their South East London neighborhoods of Gispy Hill and Thornton Heath to talk about how trapped kids may feel in the gang life. Most don’t think they can make it out, but this film is supposed to inspire people to make it out of where they’re from and achieve their dreams.
They also speak on specific scenes in the movie and how it still affects people today, mostly the scenes with the police and how it played out in Ferguson, etc.
