Hip Hop and science aren’t two names that are usually seen next to each other, but leave it up to the co-founder of one of hip hop’s most historic groups to explain the correlation between the two. Teaming up with TEDxTeen Talk, GZA breaks down the science within hip hop as a part of the “Genius of Science” series, designed to educate the youth about science. The legendary emcee opens up to the teens about his past and how the ABC’s became the first rhyme he ever knew, his interests in science while growing up, and at the end, a few of the students join GZA on stage for some rhymes of their own. Check it out after the jump.

“Why science? Because aside from its technological relevance in all areas of life, science is a way to increase our understanding about the physical universe. The more we open up to the universe, the more it opens up to us.”
