Nintendo’s Wii U Lands In The Online TV Arena With Launch Of TVii Available Now

After much delay, fans of the “Big N” and Wii U owners can now rejoice with the launch of Nintendo TVii free service for Wii U available now. Originally scheduled to launch the console last month, the app had been pushed back as the Nintendo hoped to make the video service as organized and user friendly as possible.

The service features Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus and your local cable and satellite providers for on-demand programing; while Netlfix and Tivo won’t be available until early 2013. Also part of this experience is an Xbox SmartGlass like feature which TVii will offer a new second-screen option with built-in social sharing options for Twitter, Facebook and the Miiverse.

Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime stated “After Dec. 20, you’ll never look at your TV the same way again;” and while that remains to be seen, Nintendo console owners can now enjoy the experience of streaming various content that wasn’t seen on the previous console.
