We were riding out one of these days and some old Usher came on shuffle while we were making the trek back to the crib. Instead of skipping the track, we let that bitch breathe. It really reminded us of how many songs Usher has in the stash that were never really singles. You can always get the party jumping with “Yeah!” and “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” but the sleepers in his albums were what we always enjoyed.
Shortly after hearing that Usher song, we had to run back his catalog to hear some of other gems we’ve enjoyed over the years. Most of them actually come from Confessions (that album was top to bottom the best body of work he’s ever released), but his other albums have some bangers in between the huge singles.
Considering Usher’s been quiet with new music for far too long, we decided to cook up a playlist of some of his gems. If you’re an Usher fan, you’re going to love it. If you’re not up on the extent of his albums like that, put yourself on to some slept on tracks from ATL’s own. And yes, “Throwback” is probably his best non-single ever.

While we patiently wait for the next release from Usher, him singing the ABC’s is gonna have to do for now. While we admit, Usher singing the ABC’s doesn’t quite sound like your typical sing along in kindergarten class. Teaming up with some familiar faces from Sesame Street, Mr. Raymond harmonizes all the aeiou’s and consonants of the alphabet in spectacular fashion. Check it out after the jump.

Last week, Samsung released a short film starring Usher entitled “Looking 4 Myself” to help promote their line of new SmartTV’s. Now we go behind-the-scenes for the commercial finding out why Usher was chosen for their series.
He goes on to speak about giving the action visuals for his most recent album with “Usher 1” as the gentleman and “Usher 2” being aggressive and dangerous. Ray cited his dancing choreography correlated with the movements utilized to operate the SmartTV; which was a perfect match for the two. You can check after the jump to watch the full video clip.
Jay-Z isn’t the only one out here getting that Samsung money. Usher Raymond is also contributing to the buzz surrounding the next generation of their Smart TV series, with the newest, hands-free motion control built into every Samsung TV model.
In this short film/commercial spot, Usher battles with the darker side of himself in true action packed movie style, getting thrown off his apartment window, crushed into a building and into a pretty girl’s living room and promoting the fact that “Motion is Power.” You can bet all of Samsung’s new gadgets make a cameo in the short film, showing off how you transmit your videos and photos direct to the new TVs.

Usher stopped by the Conan O’Brien Show and the two discussed his ability to make music for “Sexy Time” and party records. Enjoying what he does musically, Usher admits to have helping guys get through “harder times” when engaging a women, as the interview progressively got awkwardly funny.
Conan brought up the idea of ladies always throwing panties and bra’s (generic) on stage; but Usher revealed one event where a young lady got completely naked in front of Usher in the street showing all of her dedication. Check after the jump to watch the interview.
Click image to watch Pharrell interview Usher Raymond as apart of the Artist Talk series
Continuing with the Artist Talk series, Pharrell sits down with Usher Raymond in the latest episode. Starting from the beginning, the two talk about Usher’s start in church and moving onto talent shows, how moving to Atlanta and doing Star Search led to meeting L.A. Reid and being signed on the spot, working with Diddy and his “flavor camp” in NY, keeping R&B music alive, how he has been serving as a mentor to Justin Bieber, and Pharrell introduces his artist Leah LaBell and the three discuss what artists and producers must do to connect and make great records.
Usher, yes your read that right Usher, is the latest to jump on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” instrumental. This is actually the best sounding one of all the remixes that had dropped, as Usher mixes in some dope singing over the smooth beat. We can absolutely get into some more new music from Usher in 2013.
If we had it our way, Drake would be releasing that R&B mixtape that he was talking about last year, in epic fashion. You can’t deny this guy’s music on the R&B tip. From “Trust Issues,” to “Fall For Your Type,” Aubrey Graham has been hitting them out of the park. And that’s a few of the handful of tracks he’s got in the arsenal.
Most recently, Drake took his R&B talents to the studio with James Fauntelroy and crafted a remake of Destiny’s Child “Say My Name.” It’s safe to say most weren’t expecting him to flip it, but it worked. AND IT PROBABLY WON’T EVEN SHOW UP ON THE ALBUM.
But it got us to thinking, what if Drake really dropped an R&B tape soon, what other tracks could he flip? (Not saying it should be all remixes, because we’d want a fair share of original tracks). There’s some shit that he can give life to in 2013, though.
As R&B aficionados, these are some of the tracks that came to mind.
Last night, season four of the NBC’s “The Voice” premiered with new vocal coaches Usher and Shakira replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green for the reality talent show. The interview closes out with the two giving us a look from the premiere episode of Usher talking to one of the singers on his team. You can check out The Voice every Monday and Tuesday at 8pm ET/PT on NBC.
Apparently we missed the memo that it is national drop your new single or video day in hip-hop. Regardless we really dig Usher’s new single “Go Missin,’” which features some creative production from Diplo. From the sounds of this one it should have no problem rising quickly on the charts. Check it out above.
With the Super Bowl just around the corner, R&B Pop star Usher has been called for a Mercedes Benz ad to air during the NFL championship game this Sunday on CBS. In the commercial spot, a young man is given a contract to sign and promised the CLA-class Benz coupe. With that, he envisions everything that would come with it: The utmost fame, fortune, Kate Upton (sure, guy) and even moves like Usher, no Jagger.
Upon finding out how low the price of the cars starts at, he rejects the offer that will crown him king and decides to be a normal guy and buy the car himself.
Spoil your Super Bowl commercial viewing experience and watch the clip above.
Last night was the talk of the e-streets as the 2012 American Music Awards took over the Nokia Theater in LA and also everyone’s television sets. Usher opened up the 40th annual night with his energetic performance of “Numb” “Climax” and a “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” medley.
After the jump, check out Nicki Minaj touch the stage for “Freedom” and also joining Justin Bieber on stage while he performed “As Long As You Love Me” (sans Big Sean) and “Beauty And A Beat”. Also Swizz Beats, Chris Brown, and Ludacris did their “Everyday Birthday” record, Stevie Wonder paid homage to the late Dick Clark, and MC Hammer joined PSY to close the night with a rendition of “Gangnam Style” and “Too Legit To Quit”.
What a week for videos. A lot of the new blood stepped up to the plate and hit some out of the park with their visuals this week, as you will see more unsigned videos creep up into our countdown. Some of the big players in rap also made the cut, but the alternative and R&B side took a snub. Gary, IN, Brooklyn, Chicago and the LBC all represented.
