A new documentary titled Shake The Dust is on the way, and it’s poised to tell the stories of several break dancers around the world, living in third-world countries. Although they have all walked different paths of life and through separate hardships, they are bound by their strong passion for break dancing and love of hip-hop culture.
After hearing about it, Nas decided to help the cause and serve as executive producer for the film’s soundtrack, as well as contribute music for it.

It’s not often in hip-hop where a producer/emcee combination is almost seemingly a match made in heaven. As of lately, we’ve seen what Noah “40″ Shebib and Drake can cook up, as well as Jay Z and Timbaland finally making the pieces fit, but now it seems a combination many of us have been longing for are finally getting together. In a recent interview with WM40A, DJ Premier reveals that he will be producing a full-length Nas LP. This may also explain why DJ Premier was left off of Nas’ latest Life Is Good album in which Nasir said the reason being, “not this album.” Is a Nas album fully produced by DJ Premier something you’re looking forward to? Today marks the 40th birthday for Queensbridge legend, Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones. One of our favorite albums from Nasty Nas is Illmatic. In comparison to his original Scarface-themed visuals that showcased Nas living playboy lifestyle and few scenes around Queens, the remix took us on trip to the real 41st side.
Although the Q-Tip remix didn’t leave the impact on the game like the original version; we always preferred this track in our rotations having the more grittier feel, with the streets cats out for the dead presidents. While being under heavy surveillance from the three letter boys, we’re shown the consequences of a reckless life.
“The world is mine, persona of late Tony Montana, yet getting mine”.
Nearly 20 years later after his debut, Nas is still delivering gems, most recently seen last year with his 10th studio album “Life is Good.” It’s a must to pay homage to Nas on his 40th, being one of the socially conscious brothers we grew up idolizing.

50 Cent stopped by Hot 97 to talk with Funkmaster Flex about a wide array of topics. He opened up on showing admiration to Kendrick Lamar for challenging the game bringing some aggression back to the game that missing since his run. 50 said fans were expecting him or Jay to respond to K. Dot on the ‘King of NY’ lyric, but the two were obviously in appreciation of the intensity being brought back to the game.
Speaking of Kings, Nas was brought up which 50 briefly mentioned the two ran into each other at SoHo and cleared the air to get good space. The two quickly drew a comparison to 50’s days in the limelight being the no. 1 target which wasn’t so friendly in today’s genre.
Flex cited Meek and Cassidy having that same classic rap battle beef aura, which 50 said he expects all parties involved to better themselves as artist. Things then transitioned to the status of G-Unit currently which he felt disappointed in Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yayo not using the same blueprint he did to take over the game seeing potential in all. He says his artist Kidd Kidd has that same intensity to be successful and will promote him the same way he did his prior acts.

This week, Nas celebrated the release of his collaborative special edition Hennessy V.S bottle with Os Gemeos at NYC’s Pier 57. Before the festivities started, Miss Info of Hot 97 caught up with her long-time friend Nas to discuss the new brand of Jas Hennessy & Co; but more importantly, Kendrick Lamar’s controversial lyrics this week on “Control.”
Kendrick made claims of being the King of NY, which Nas remained composed stating “I’m a listener and it’s a good moment for Hip-Hop.” Info closed out with the possibility of a new Nas album in the works, which he revealed an imminent name title to be announced back in April but hasn’t surfaced yet. Nas confirmed the album is still coming, as you can check after the jump to watch the interview with Info.

Continuing his (what appears to be) lengthy sitdown with Revolt TV, Timbaland let a few cats out of the bag. Tim spoke on why Aaliyah records with anybody in 2013 and beyond won’t work unless he’s the backbone, and what Drake said to him that solidified his longevity in the game. The biggest surprise however, came after Mr. Mosley hinted at making a great album with Nas and reveals a record Nasir apparently has in the stash featuring Jay Z and Justin Timberlake called “Sinatra In The Sands”.
It appears there is still a good amount of great music for our ears to hear with Timbaland being the catalyst of it all.

Some of you out there might still remember the climate in 2008/2009 when this dropped. After participating in the vote and watching it all unfold, Young Jeezy scored by making “My President” a single off The Recession. And who can forget the classic time when Jay-Z came out as special guest with Jeezy in D.C. and freestyled his verse from the remix on the day of President Obama’s inauguration. Good times.

We can’t wait to hear what else he has in store. This one is special.
