The MTV Movie Awards just got bigger, with the network announcing that Eminem and Rihanna will be performing for this year’s event. The two are scheduled to embark on the Monster Tour in August, but next Sunday will be a preview of what you may see in your city this Summer. This moment is big for Em and RiRi, marking their first nationally televised performance of the Marshall Mathers LP 2 smash “The Monster.”
Other artists scheduled to perform include Zedd, Ellie Goulding and twenty one pilots.
The 2014 MTV Movie Awards will air live this Sunday, starting at 9pm EST. To vote for your nominees and find more info leading up the show, head over to MTV.

Now that 50 Cent is off Interscope Records, he can actually say what he thinks without having label interfering. During his town hall meeting and sit down with MTV, Curtis was not afraid to throw a little jab at his former label. It’s not something that is out of pocket by any means (we’ve all noticed this strategy throughout the years), but he states Interscope Records has turned into Beats by Dre Records thanks to the marketing they’ve used to promote the headphones through their videos.
Considering Jimmy Iovine is an OG in the game and has a lot of pull out at IGA, it was easily done. Of course, this doesn’t mean Fif wasn’t frustrated when the label blurred his t-shirt/hat with the SMS Audio logo, though.
Expect to hear more of that classic 50 Cent shit talking ahead of his Animal Ambition album, due out online and nationwide on June 3. You know how Fif does.

If you’ve seen the infamous picture of 50 Cent confronting Steve Stoute at Madison Square Garden recently, you would know it spoke a thousand words. Last night, 50 Cent sat down with MTV during a special Sirius XM town hall meeting and spoke on that exact occurrence. He paraphrased what he told Steve in that exact shot, except it was a bit more PG than what probably happened.
Fif also revealed that Stoute did not want him to sign with Eminem and Shady/Aftermath back in the day, somehow finding him at the Interscope offices before he went up to meet with Em. As you can gather through history, 50 didn’t take his advice and signed with him anyway, becoming the biggest rapper on the planet after the release of Get Rich Or Die Trying. He made the right decision.
Peep an excerpt of Curtis’ talk with Rob Markman below and if you want to catch more of their interview, they will be airing more segments on MTV RapFix Live tomorrow.

Go inside the mind of Mac Miller and the thought process that brought his Live In Space album to life in his latest interview with MTV. During the sit-down, Mac mentions how Blue Slide Park might not have a been a good live album like Watching Movies With The Sound Off was, giving him more reason to make it happen.
The fact that his sophomore record is more musical and the live aspect would bring the songs more to life, was a main factor in why he did this album. It was around the time that the “Objects In The Mirror” video dropped, that they saw the potential in doing it, in terms of how the songs will be understood and taken to a whole new level.
You can stream and cop the digital only release, Live In Space, out online today.

Pusha T is still in My Name Is My Name mode, recently shooting the music video to the Rick Ross-assisted “Hold On” single. MTV caught up with him on the set in Florida, as he explained what the track was about, the concept behind the video and how that fits into the album. You can watch all of that go down below.

While continuing promo in NYC for his upcoming debut album “My Name Is My Name,” Pusha-Ton stopped by the MTV studios for special live performance at Wild ‘N Out. Here, we have a performance for his Wrath Of Caine street single “Millions”, which the entire audience completely was turnt up when the G.O.O.D. Music / Re-Up Gang representative hit the stage. After an entire week hearing about Miley Cyrus twerking on stage with Robin Thicke at the VMA’s (middle America was in outrage), she finally comes clean and tells her side of the story. She didn’t say much besides the fact she was following tradition on the VMA stage and that people are overthinking the situation more than she ever did.
All she knows is that she and Robin knew they were going to make history on that stage before they performed and they certainly did… something. At least the memes that came out of the entire fiasco were funny as hell.

The Internet may have had a little fun when Drake’s Nothing Was The Same album artwork was released, but the Kadir Nelson oil painting is very dear to him. In his interview with MTV, Aubrey explains that it will make more sense when you see the retailers position it the way he asked, and it represents his most concise thoughts now, and what his recollection of then. He wanted fans to remember the moment they saw it.
Nothing Was The Same drops in stores on September 24.

We’re still trying to process everything that happened at the 2013 MTV VMA’s because some of them were real mind boggling. There were highlights, though. What was better than Lady Gaga getting boo’d at the beginning of “Applause“? Maybe Rihanna‘s reaction when Drake performed? Where was Nicki Minaj when Miley Cyrus was on stage twerking all on Robin Thicke? King Timberlake secured his crown tonight. Kendrick and 2 Chainz got a huge look from Robin Thicke but MTV couldn’t show him any award love.
Brooklyn, this was in your neighborhood. How are you feeling about this year’s Video Music Awards? Barclays Center, look at what you’ve done.

You know what time it is! The MTV VMA’s are here and we’re live-blogging the whole thing. We’re not even sure about the madness that’s about to go down, but if it’s anything like we’ve witnessed in recent years, we’re in for a treat. This is the first time the VMA’s are at the Barclays Center in BKNY so it should be a good one.

As part of the VMA’s and Brooklyn’s Hip-Hop Week, MTV goes back to the essence and takes Talib Kweli on a dollar van ride to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of the Black Star album, revisiting stories from that time period. In the ride, he discussed what the dollar van meant to him and what it was like to shoot the “Definition” video back in the day, and how all of those cameos appeared while they took a trip up Flatbush Ave.
He also revealed that there was a “RE:Definition” video that was scrapped because the idea didn’t come together like they wanted to.

Considering the MTV show and A$AP Rocky’s current single both have “wild” in the name, it only makes sense that “Wild For The Night” would be performed on Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘N Out show. Unfortunately, there were no low-blows (like that shot at Mariah from French Montana last week) on this episode, but the Skrillex-featured Long.Live.A$AP single is still getting a lot burn out in these mainstream streets.
Watch A$AP take the stage and rock his single live in the video below.

After the jump you can watch him hit the stage to perform his the popular single “Crack” for the MTV audience shutting it down.

It’s almost that time of the year again, with MTV finally revealing the complete list of Video Music Award nominees for the 2013 edition set to go next month. This year’s them is ‘No Sleep Til 8/25’ derived from the legendary Beastie Boys song, as this year we’ll be seeing the event go live next month from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
So far, we’ve already seen the show will feature the Moonman award having its first major appearance change in 30 years reinvented by borough-based and international artist KAWS. This year’s field sees Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis tied with Justin Timberlake for six nominations each with Bruno Mars in the rear-view mirror with four of his own.
The big elephant in the room is obviously the ‘Robin Thicke vs. Justin Timberlake’ battle, which Thicke was only granted 3 nominations this year; but he’s nomination for some of the biggest awards including Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Collaboration. Their will only be one KING after the show concludes on August 25, but from now until August 24th, you can cast your picks but texting VOTE to 22444 or hitting up MTV’s official Facebook page.
Check after the jump for a special video preview along with the complete detailed list of nominees.
