If you enjoyed Rapper Big Pooh’s most recent album Fat Boy Fresh Vol. 3: Happy Birthday Thomas over the summer, you’ll be thrilled to know that 3.5 is on the way. For the album’s first single, R.B.P. releases “Jambalaya” which is produced by 9th Wonder. As long time fans of the legendary North Carolina group Little Brother, seeing the two on a track tonight is a breath of fresh air. An album wouldn’t hurt with this current climate of music, but listen to the track above that’s available for purchase on iTunes now.
Although her most recent project She Got Game was only released last month, Rapsody is still in the right frame of mind to provide new material for the masses. Off the back of an worthy cypher verse with Wax, Emis Killa, Rittz and Jon Connor, the Jamla representative puts her thoughts into rhymes on a track titled “Mass Hysteria,” which undertakes notable production from label general, 9th Wonder. If you haven’t picked up the new project just yet, be sure to purchase the deluxe on iTunes now.
Although claiming a rightful a place as one of the most talented female emcees over the years, Rapsody has maintained her “culture over everything” theory by undoubtedly thriving on the underground scene. Throughout each of her projects, there’s been an undoubtable amount of growth in both her namesake and quality of music overall.
In what seems to be one of her most complete projects to date, the Jamla representative releases her brand new She Got Game mixtape in its entirety, which contains 16 tracks alongside special guest contributions from Raekwon, Chance The Rapper, 9th Wonder, Mac Miller, Common, Wale, Ab-Soul, Terrace Martin, DJ Premier, Nipsey Hussle and more.
To increase the anticipation for her forthcoming project, Rapsody returns once again for another collaborative cut. It could be argued that Life+Times’ Decoded series is mostly known for covering tracks that have recently been released, but this time they went back to just under a decade ago for undoubtedly one of the most impeccable albums. 9th Wonder sat down to discuss the production process behind Jay-Z’s “Threat,” which appeared on The Black Album back in 2003. The Grammy Award-winning producer spoke on how the collaboration came about, and explained how he previewed a number of beats to Hov, but was told to sample a song of his choice. He went into further detail about the instrumental itself and elaborated on what was specifically used.
Astro aka Astronomical Kid has made huge progress over the past few years, even if he still is of a young age. The 16-year old rapper returns with by far the most polished work to date with his latest Deadbeats & Lazy Lyrics mixtape. Standing at 13 original tracks, the project is taken care of lyrically by himself, along with an array of different producers from MF Doom, 9th Wonder, BrandUn DeShay and ThatLoserLaron. If this doesn’t convince you that he’s more than just “that kid from the X Factor,” we’re not quite sure what will.
Continuing to release the hard evidence of their recent studio sessions together, Big K.R.I.T. and 9th Wonder combine once again in the aim of another impressive cut. As you may presume, “Reign On” features K.R.I.T. giving his lyrical take on the verses, alongside 9th Wonder doing his typically lustrous work on the background of the offering.
The fact that 9th sampled a classic record from The O’Jays may push your expectations over the edge for this extremely brief track. For those who don’t know, the soul group helped shape the sound of Dipset’s Diplomatic Immunity, courtesy of The Heatmakerz. The release acts as a teaser for the rapper’s forthcoming mixtape K.R.I.T. (King Remembered In Time).
There’s no doubt that one of our most anticipated projects of the year is Terrace Martin’s forthcoming full-length titled 3 Chord Fold. To build the anticipation for the release, Martin links with fellow California native Problem for “Something Else,” the first single from his upcoming solo album. Production is once again superbly handled by himself and Jamla Records general 9th Wonder. Those who have been following Terrace’s movement in the underground scene will certainly treasure his latest work.
Following on from information we have gained over the past week, Big K.R.I.T. gives us a new track after hitting the studio with some familiar faces just a matter of days ago. Along with the pleasure of 9th Wonder producing the track, K.R.I.T. links up with two popular females from the Jamla collective. This time, Heather Victoria blesses the chorus with her stunning vocal abilities with Rapsody providing a necessary verse to signal the perfect ending. We’re just hoping that this will lead to many more collaborations in the near future.
Hip-Hop professor and Grammy Award winning super producer, 9th wonder kept very active in 2012 with releasing “The Final Adventure” with Murs as well as the “The Solution” with Buckshot but now we get even more heat to start off 2013 as he remixes the most underrated Jay-Z album of all time with “Black American Gangster.” It’s been nearly 9 years since 9th remixed one of Hovito’s albums as he added his splice of beats with “Black Is Back!” in 2004 but now we’re granted another rare gem from 9th that shouldn’t go overlooked by any fan of the two. You can check after the jump to view the 14-track tracklistings along with a download link. BROOKLYN you crazy, look how you made me!

The producer touched on a number of things including how much music means to him, the state of hip-hop, the motivation and inspiration of the genre on the youth, words of advice and much more.
