Zach Lavine Wins 2015 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

Half man half amazing

Going into the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, there was very little expectations. Not a lot of buzz surrounded the event. The disappointment of past years carried over and although it was still the main event of the night, it didn’t seem like it.

But after it was all said and done, Zach Lavine was crowed the champion. He brought that excitement and electrifying dunking that has been missing from previous years.

Mason Plumlee, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the closest rival, Victor Oladipo, were only spectators for the real dunker of the night. Lavine showed out on every single dunk, only missing the ones in the finals. Every one of his first dunks to kick things off was done on the first attempt, bringing the crowd and everyone watching to screams. Did you see how his head almost hit the rim on that first dunk? It was unbelievable. The energy could be felt throughout the stadium.

Jaws dropped for this

The second dunk he did on Saturday night was one of the best we’ve seen in the new era. His elevation and behind-the-back move was creative and executed perfectly.

He didn’t have to do much after that.

With the pressure mounting on him, Olapdipo knew the contest win was out of his hands. After missing every try during the last round, all Lavine had to do was complete a dunk and the trophy was his. Even with this in mind, he still managed to grab the ball off the State Farm logo and put it between the legs to seal the deal.

At just 19 years old, Zach Lavine won the 2015 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest like he was made for it.
