Vikings Deactivate Adrian Peterson After Child Injury Charges

Cleveland Browns v Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are currently investigating the matter

Things keep going from worse to extremely bad in terms of the image of the NFL, with reports coming out that Adrian Peterson has been indicted in a child injury case in Montgomery County, Texas. The specific charges on Peterson are “reckless or negligent injury to a child,” stemming from the way he disciplined his child last May, by hitting him with a “switch” (a branch from a tree) across his body. When the boy returned to Minnesota, his mother took him to the doctor, who found lacerations on his thighs, as well as bruises on his back and cuts on his hands.

AP sent text messages to the baby’s mother to tell her what happened:

“Felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting his thigh. Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories! Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has the biggie heart but don’t play no games when it comes to acting right.”

According to police, the child had a different story than the account that Adrian Peterson told and said he was afraid AP would punch him in the face if he reported the incident to anyone. He also revealed that AP hit him with belts on other occasions and pointed out the amount of belts his father had.

Even though Adrian Peterson has turned himself in and fully cooperated with police regarding the charges, the Vikings have deactivated AP from this week’s game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, while the organization investigates and gathers information.
