Tyson Fury Upsets Wladimir Klitschko to Become World Heavyweight Champ

And New World Heavyweight Champion!

After 9-years, the Wladimir Klitschko reign of dominance has finally came to an end. The Ukrainian professional boxer lost The Ring, IBF, WBO, IBO, & WBA (Super) Heavyweight titles, to now undefeated champion, Tyson Fury. The writings were already on the wall after his April performance against Bryant Jennings, where we saw one of Klitschko’s worst performances ever.

With an obvious age difference, Fury’s unorthodox fighting ability and athleticism against Wladimir was visible throughout the entire Thanksgiving weekend mega-bout. Klitschko decided his traditional way of left-jab and right-hook arsenal was necessary for to the fight; which made him seriously fatigued during the later stages of the fight. The referee stopping the match in the final round, was the sole reason why Tyson didn’t secure a knockdown. Fury didn’t have to watch his body at all during the fight, and used his size and noticeable reach advantage to pull away with the victory.

During the post-fight, Tyson serenaded his wife to an Aerosmith song, which something the fans in Germany didn’t appreciate, before leaving Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf. Klitschko unfortunately has a rematch clause in place, but we’re hoping he leaves the ring alone for good and allows Deontay Wilder to get his rightful shot. With the upset, this now brings much-needed excitement back to the premier division in all of boxing, as fellow heavyweights David Haye, Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte are now all waiting in line.

It may be time to retire Wladimir Klitschko, We’ll just leave this here!
