Steve Smith Sr. Says Ron Rivera & Panthers Back-Stabbed Him

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Baltimore Ravens

More trash talking about his former team

Just a few days after Steve Smith put in the work he had promised against the Panthers, he is letting loose on the organization, yet again.

After the game on Sunday, Smith didn’t have anything to say about the Carolina Panthers in his post game interviews. He did all his talking on the field, to the tune of 139 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns (he was caught talking trash on the sidelines too). On Wednesday in an interview with a radio station in Charlotte, he had a lot on his mind to piggy back his performance on Sunday and mentioned the fact he felt “stabbed in the back” when he was released by Carolina.

Smith said he was betrayed by his old coach, Ron Rivera and had this to say about him.

“Every time I keep reading stuff and reports come out, I just think I was stabbed in the back. Just like coach Rivera said he wasn’t a sore loser, but yet he never even spoke to me through the whole ordeal. Not one time. He didn’t look at me man-to-man and say this was going down. He said he’s a players’ coach but he never came in and said ‘Hey Smitty, this is going on. Wanted to give you a heads up. He hid in his office.”

It definitely sounds like Smith is going to hold this grudge for a long time and with the numbers he has put up so far this year we’re sure the Ravens want him to keep playing angry. There’s nothing like the motivation from having something to prove.
