Spurs Beat Cavs Thanks to Last Second Fumble by LeBron James

A preview of the NBA Finals?

We all know what the San Antonio Spurs did to LeBron James and Miami Heat in the last series of the season last year. We’re sure that’s probably why LBJ left Miami. We wouldn’t doubt if it’s haunted ‘Bron every day since, helping motivate him to win Cleveland this season.

That humiliation resurfaced again on Wednesday night, as King James faced his nemesis in a different jersey in front of his hometown crowd.

For much of the game, the Spurs and Cavs went back and forth, leading by only three points at the half. That back and forth continued in the 3rd and 4th quarter, all the way down to the final seconds, with Lebron carrying the team on his back in the final stretch.

A few turnovers ultimately cost Cleveland the game, though. On the last Cavs possession, James took it up to the court and lost control of the ball as he looked to tie the game with the clock expiring. Unfortunately, Manu Ginobli recovered and ran out the clock, giving the Spurs a 92-90 win at Quicken Loans Arena.

Lebron ended the game with 15 points and 9 assists, while teammates Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love finished the night with 20 points and 10 points, respectively. The Cavs leading scorer was Anderson Varejao, with 23 points and 11 rebounds, a solid double-double performance.

On the other side of the ball, Tim Duncan and Boris Diaw led the Spurs with 19 points and Kawhi Leonard providing 12 points of his own. Cory Joseph also helped with 10 points off the bench.
