From the Republic of Congo to the NBA
From the brilliant minds out at Grantland and a 2015 SXSW Festival pick, Son Of The Congo will help us get to know one of the NBA’s greatest defensive presences today, Serge Ibaka. The documentary follows the Oklahoma City Thunder center from his native country as he gives back to the community and people that represent him today.
In the trailer, you can see the living conditions the folks there are living under and what Ibaka made it out from and how the death of his parents greatly influenced him to play harder at basketball in hopes of one day achieving his dreams.
Meeting his daughter at the age of five also changed his perspective on life and he says she’s influenced him greatly since discovering he was a father.
