Shaquille O’Neal & Kobe Bryant Address the State of the NBA

Listen to the entire Shaq & Kobe podcast!

If you remember last week, we were previewed with excerpts from Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast with recent guest and former teammate Kobe Bryant. The two had already reconciled privately when Kobe voiced his displeasure for Dwight Howard in purple and gold, but the former duo owed it to Lakers fans to publicly reminisce about their championship days together and bury the hatchet. Throughout the 20-minute conversation, the two hall-of-famers discussed their fallout, where Shaq even threatened to kill Kobe Bryant at one point.

While The Diesel later said he didn’t mean it, The Mamba was up for the challenge – being eager to prove himself to the world and legends of the game. They went to discuss how Phil Jackson never played favoritism towards either athlete – contrary to media reports and how they would alternate each playoff series of domination.

Shaq even asked Kobe which Lakers squad was their prime and they both said the 2001 team, which went 15-1 in the playoffs – losing only one game to the classic Allen Iverson performance.

Listen to more from the full episode above, where they also touch on how soft the NBA has become in just a decade, and why Olympic and international play is more appealing at the moment.
