The Giants start their ’15 season with unfortunate news

With opening day for the 2015 season 5 weeks away, the defending World Series Champions San Francisco Giants have received some major news that will shake up their first two months of the season. The team’s best hitter and arguably best player, Hunter Pence will be out of action 6-8 weeks with a broken arm.

Thursday afternoon in a spring training game against the Chicago Cubs, Pence was hit on his left arm by a pitch – which he would immediately fall down to the ground wincing in pain. Medical staff and team trainers soon took Hunter to the back for X-rays, revealing a fracture on his left ulna. This marks his first significant injury in nearly a decade, as Pence played in all 162 games the last two seasons. The team is now looking at starting Gregor Blanco alongside Angel Pagan and recently acquired right fielder Norichika Aoki.
