Philadelphia Eagles Trade LeSean McCoy To Buffalo Bills

Tennessee Titans v Philadelphia Eagles

Looks like the Rex Ryan reign as coach of the Buffalo Bills is kicking off with a major blockbuster deal that will send LeSean McCoy to upstate New York for Kiko Alonso, who is headed to Philadelphia.

Alonso played with Chip Kelly in Oregon and joins the Eagles defense, after missing the entire 2014 season with a torn ACL. Although he is still rehabbing that knee injury, he was regarded as one of the best rookies in 2013, ranking third in tackles that year.

On the other side of the coin, Shady McCoy rushed for 1,319 yards and scored five touchdowns last season and will be an upgrade to that Bills backfield, who are almost guaranteed to let CJ Spiller walk away as soon as this trade is finalized. The Eagles were in much talk about dealing McCoy, possibly for a higher pick in the draft so they could snag Marcus Mariota, because they weren’t willing to give him the contract he was looking for in terms of big money. The Bills have the cap space to make it happen.

This trade (or any trade) cannot be made official by the league until the new year starts. The league year begins next Tuesday at 4pm EST.

UPDATE: LeSean McCoy’s new deal with the Bills will be a 5-year deal worth $40 million dollars. He will get $16 million in the first year and a guaranteed $26.5 million thanks to the new contract, which should ease his move from Philadelphia to Buffalo.
