Peyton Manning Will Return To Broncos After $4 Million Pay Cut

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Denver Broncos

You can breathe a sigh of relief, Denver

Peyton Manning will officially be returning to the Denver Broncos for the 2015-2016 season, so folks in Mile High can rest a little easier tonight. Pending an annual physical, Manning should finalize the terms of the new agreement with the team, which will include a $4 million dollar pay cut next season, getting roughly $15M to suit back up for the Broncos.

GM John Elway expressed his desire for Peyton to return this offseason, with both sides showing willingness to bring the band back together and make a run at a championship.

With a new head coach and some more cap space, the Broncos can now try to upgrade in key areas, including the offensive line and pass protection for Manning. They will also need to address some positions which may lack depth if certain free agents decide to move on from Denver (Julius Thomas, we’re talking about you bro). Not to mention locking down a new extension for wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

The new contract for Peyton Manning will come with some bonuses that can get it back up to $19 million, including $2 million if he wins the AFC Championship and $2 million for winning the Super Bowl. So aside from the legacy, Peyton can still get paid.

Breathe easy Denver fans, but just know Manning is getting ready for the farewell tour.
