The rebuilding continues
Following a stellar World Series run, Pablo Sandoval is finally cashing out. After saying he wanted to stay in San Francisco with the Giants and San Diego Padres made an aggressive offer for the slugger, the sweepstakes have now been won by the Boston Red Sox.
Sandoval has agreed to a 5-year deal worth a reported $100 million, with a possibility of playing other positions other than short stop. Left field can be a possibility.
The Red Sox have been trying to make a big splash this off season, with reports saying the team is close to a deal with Hanley Ramirez and making bids to former ace, Jon Lester as well. With enough pieces, they can potentially trade some of their hitters for more pitchers.
UPDATE: Sandoval’s deal is worth $95 million, Includes a sixth-year club option worth $17 million, and $5 million buyout.
