A-Rod continues to carry Yankees with 2 home run; 4 RBI night.

The New York Yankees might be having a rather disappointing MLB season so far, but one of the teams star pupils is trying his best to keep things from going under. Alex Rodriguez is without a doubt playing ball as if he was still in his prime years, as he continues to swing the bat in a productive manner.

Last night, during the Yanks match-up against the division rival Tampa Bay Rays, A-Rod carried his beloved Yankees team to a 5-4 victory, where he collected 4 RBI’s and connected for career home runs No. 657 and 658, moving him to within two of the great Willie Mays for fourth place on the all-time home run list.

Both home runs are notable to mention, but one more so than the other, as his first one of the evening was hammered over the left-centerfield fence — estimated to have traveled 477 feet. It was the longest home run hit by any New York Yankee player over the past 10 years, and the longest at The Trop over that same span.

His second home run, a two-run bomb of Ernesto Frieri, tied the game at 4 in the sixth inning. In the eighth, A-Rod gathered his 11th RBI of the season when he knocked in the go-ahead run with a RBI single.
