Monday Night Football: Texans/Patriots Preview

Houston Texans at New England Patriots

Network: ESPN

Tonight, in another game of the week featured on ESPN “Monday Night Football,” we get to see an AFC primetime feature with the Houston Texans traveling to face-off against the New England Patriots. The Texans are on the verge of obtaining homefield advantage throughout the playoffs inching closer with a win tonight against Tom Brady and the Patriots at Foxborough, Massachusetts. Both teams have been on 6-game winning streaks as the Texans sit atop of the AFC at 11-1 and the Patriots are a two down at 9-3.

As Peyton Manning’s been playing MVP status this year and the Broncos upcoming easy favorable schedule in December, I expect both teams tonight to play their best football this season with the Texans looking for a statement win and the overshadowed defending AFC champion Patriots looking to move back into the “elite” discussions in the NFL.

Looking at the remaining schedule, this game is more important to the Texans not only to claim their “elite-ness” but upcoming games against Indianapolis twice and one against the best back in the game Adrian Peterson with his Vikings. The Patriots have favorable games against Miami and Jacksonville as they host a primetime game next Sunday against the 49ers at home.

This game should be a very interesting one to say the least as the Patriots who will have a hard time getting past the Texans fierce O-Line to Schaub will have to rely on their secondary to stop the Texans receivers Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels along with Arian Foster.

The smart pick in this one would be to pick the experienced Patriots who are numb to playing in big games for the last decade+ but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Texans somehow pulled out a victory in New England. NFL fans, get ready for some football tonight, cause this right here is an epic showdown and our pick for game of the week.
