Monday Night Football: Eagles/Saints Preview

Philadelphia at New Orleans
Time: 8:30 PM (ET) | Tonight
Network: ESPN

For the final game of week 9 NFL football play for the 2012 season, we see the Philadelphia Eagles traveling to play the New Orleans Saints. For the first time this year, the Saints aren’t in the headlines for their bounty scandal that’s plagued their city and organization the entire year as Andy Reid and Michael Vick (dunno why) are in the hot seat with tonight being a must win game.

The eagles have been victim to having one of the worst o-lines in the entire NFL as their defense has been lackluster the entire season as well giving up back-to-back late game drives in weeks 5 and 6 against the Steelers & Lions. Then the Eagles proceeded last week to give up 30 points against Matt Ryan and the Falcons but somehow Michael Vick is to blame as he’s only thrown two picks in their last five games being sacked nearly 3 times a game.

Vick’s averaged a 78.6 QB rating this year with only 1,823 yards thrown thus far as its been difficult for him to avoid the pass rush and blitz’s thrown into a urgency of completing a pass before a sack.

Tonight, Philly is going to have to look to LeSean McCoy to contribute heavily with most of Vick’s targets banged up along with the Eagles defense who’s known to not be effective against a strong offense and effective QB will have to step up tonight and hinder Brees passing down-field. For the Saints, their only concern tonight should be their offense as if it’s anything like the Matt Ryan and the Falcons dismantlement of Philly two weeks ago, they could possibly have the same outcome tonight.

I picked the Eagles initially, but the circus that’s going on in the organization is taking away their focus with the Saints finally easing away from the Bounty-gate to regain focus with tonight being a must win game to avoid a 2-6 record.
