Michael Vick Leads Steelers on Game-Winning Drive Against Chargers

MOVIE FINISH!

We won’t even lie, this game started kind of trash, but it really opened up by the second half when both teams started scoring points.

Going into the game, the Pittsburgh Steelers were on a slump, missing Ben Roethlisberger for a third straight week and seeing the air attack suffer because of it. Michael Vick has been an alright backup, but the ground game has been what’s been working the most behind Le’Veon Bell. Don’t count Vick’s legs, though. He’s been getting his yards. It’s just his passing that’s not all there.

Today’s game was a little different.

After coming back into the third quarter on a 7-3 score, things turned around for the Steelers with a 70-yard pick 6 by Antwon Blake. He jumped in front of Malcolm Floyd on a slant and took the interception to the house with a big defensive touchdown.

Then the Chargers made a run in the 4th quarter, scoring a field goal and Phillip Rivers hit Antonio Gates for his second touchdown of the game. Just when it looked like Pittsburgh had their backs against the wall, Vick hits Markus Wheaton with a bomb, going 72 yards across the San Diego secondary to the touchdown.

The Chargers came back and drove down the field, milked the clock down as much as they could and took the 20-17 lead with 2:59 left, it was in Vick’s hands to bring the team back with 2:00 left to go. After a few quick dumps, Michael Vick had a crucial run for 24 yards to set the Steelers up in goal line territory. Then he threw a dart to Heath Miller, getting the ball to the one.

And after making mistakes last week on crucial 4th downs, they changed the game plan and went with Le’Veon Bell at the 1 yard line with no time left and win the game. The play was reviewed and it was determined he broke the plane before his knee was down.

Pittsburgh is now 3-2 with Big Ben’s comeback on the horizon, while the Chargers fall to 2-3 after being so good at home.

Vick ended the game with 13-26 for 203 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Phillip Rivers finished with 35-48 for 365 yards, 2 touchdown, 1 interception. Player of the game, Le’Veon Bell had 21 carries for 111 yards, and 1 touchdown (the game winner).
