Ronaldo & Benzema Assist Real Madrid Win
Liverpool faced the toughest of their group, Real Madrid, since their return the Champions League, and it was the current holders who came out on top at Anfield with a convincing 3-0 victory.
Despite a positive start from the home side, Ronaldo broke the deadlock with a moment of brilliance around the 20th minute, courtesy of a quick move and inch perfect placement past Mignolet. Less than 10 minutes later, Madrid built on their lead with a header from Benzema, after the Liverpool defence left him unmarked at the back post. Before halftime, Benzema then grabbed his third with a simple tap-in from a few yards out.
Although the likes of Allen and Coutinho came close, the visitors were a class above Rodgers’ side, ending the game 3-0.
