Kevin Durant Scores Over 30 Points For 12th Straight Game In Win Against Heat

i

The Kevin Durant for MVP talks are officially at there highest levels and tonight KD went off once again, scoring over 30 points for the 12th straight game. Not only did Durant drop 33 when it was all said and done, but the Thunder went out and destroyed the Heat in Miami after trailing by as many as 18 points in the first quarter. Oklahoma City then went on an incredible 87-53 run, which completely blanked the Heat.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the game was in the 3rd quarter when KD and LeBron James went into absolute beast mode, trading buckets back and forth and having the crowd on full tilt while doing it. For the Heat (outside of Bron and Chris Bosh), nothing was really working for them, and Dwyane Wade had a very pedestrian game with a quiet 15 points. In the end, the 3-point shooting and strong bench play by the Thunder proved too much for Miami to overcome.

OS REWIND: Kevin Durant Drops 46 In 105-97 Victory Over Blazers

To put Durant’s scoring streak into perspective a little, it is the longest streak since Tracy McGrady scored over 30 points for 14 straight games in 2002 (it is also a longer streak then both Michael Jordan and LeBron James have had in their careers). The efficiency in which Durant worked tonight was truly something of beauty, as he was drilling 3’s effortlessly and getting to the lane whenever he wanted.

Durant will now head into Barclays Center to play the Nets on Friday night and try to extend this impressive streak. The kicker in all of this is that the Thunder are playing incredible basketball right now and still don’t have their 2nd best player Russell Westbrook back from injury. Once Westbrook is reinserted into the lineup, it will be hard to discredit the Thunder as a serious NBA title contended come June.
