More bad news coming out of OKC

After hinting at it last week, the words from Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti‘s are ringing particular loud today, as official news that Kevin Durant will be officially missing the rest of this season. Doctors have confirmed that KD needs bone graft surgery on his ailing right foot and will be out for the next 4-6 months.

The surgery, set to take place next week, is to further correct the pain in his foot after two surgeries (one in October to repair a Jones fracture and one in February to alleviate the discomfort from the screw put into the previous surgery).

While he was being evaluated week to week and was looking closer to returning for the Thunder come playoff time, the soreness still bothered him, especially after returning to practice, which caused doctors to look into the injury more and determine the cause of action now. This means Oklahoma City will have to continue through the postseason without their MVP, after numerous trades and the possibility of being one of the most dangerous 8th seeds the NBA had ever seen.

The Thunder will now have to rely on the great play of Russell Westbrook and Enes Kanter, as well as their role players to carry the Thunder during the last stretch of the season in into the playoffs, as the team will also be playing without Serge Ibaka.
