Josh Gordon Fails Another Drug Test, Faces 1-Year Ban

Is this Josh Gordon’s last incident in Cleveland?

Last August, Josh Gordon received the unfortunate news of a season-long suspension for failing the league’s substance-abuse policy. Now only five months later, the star wide-out has flunked yet another test. The Cleveland Browns were without Gordon for the first 10 games of the season; but now as a repeat offender, he could be subject to a one-year ban (and possible exile). He was originally set to see his suspension upheld for the entire year, but the league’s new drug policy rules agreement allowed for a week 11 return.

In the past, Josh also had a DUI, which alcohol was also banned as one of the controlled substances he wasn’t allowed to use. Whether or not the Browns part ways with the super-talented 23-year-old remains to be seen; but Cleveland is back to square one this year with a lackluster wide receiver depth chart.

Luckily for the team, they have an upcoming off-season to make drastic changes to their roster and bring talent to finally surround their 2014 first-round draft pick and day-one starter, Johnny Manziel.

UPDATE: Josh Gordon has officially been suspended by the NFL for one year without pay, for violating the league’s substance abuse policy after testing positive for alcohol due to a prior DUI. Heading into the offseason, his future with the Cleveland Browns is up in the air. There are no signs that Gordon will appeal the decision, but rather face the consequences.
