Jonathan Dwyer Arrested on Aggravated Assault

Jonathan Dwyer

How many more incidents can the NFL handle this week?

Arizona Cardinals running back, Jonathan Dwyer was booked into Maricopa County Jail on Wednesday and is the latest NFL player arrested on domestic violence charges. The arrest was made after allegations of aggravated assault, involving a 27-year old female and an 18-month old child.

Immediately following Dwyer’s arrest, the Cardinals deactivated him from their active roster and have suspended him from all team activities.

The Cardinals said they knew of the incident prior and only found out through Dwyer’s arrest on Wednesday evening, but they are fully cooperating with Phoenix police in the matter. The NFL has not suspended or punished JD as of yet, but they are reviewing the situation under the league’s new personal conduct policy.

Throughout the first two games of this season, Dwyer has been the teams second leading rusher with 16 carries for 51 yards and one touchdown. Cardinals first string running back Andre Ellington is still nursing a hurt foot and now with the possibility of Dwyer gone, the Cardinals backfield is depleted and can see all new faces real soon.

The NFL’s worst week ever just keeps getting worse.
