Earlier today, Knicks head President of basketball operations (still feels weird saying that), Phil Jackson addressed the media today for the first time, following his firing of Mike Woodson last week. The big elephant in the room has been the semi-power struggle he and owner James Dolan are privately rumored to be having right now, over team basketball decisions. Dolan rest assured that Jackson is still in control of all basketball decisions, but wants to make a personnel move in the team’s medical staff; the only thing Dolan said was untouchable.
Phil also spoke briefly on speculation whether he would return to the sidelines, revealing last week his that even his wife Jeanie Buss couldn’t convince him to take the vacancy and it doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. He remained adamant on the near future possible re-signing of franchise player Carmelo Anthony too.
