Future Hall-Of-Fame Bound? The Numbers so far say so!

Sunday afternoon, the Houston Texans were fighting for the last playoff spot in the AFC. While the Texans were unsuccessful in their goal of making it to Wild Card weekend next Sunday, they did witness history, when J.J. Watt became the first player ever to have multiple 20 sack seasons in the NFL.

During his 2012 Defensive Player of the Year run, he averaged 20.5 sacks and achieved that same accolade on a safety sack of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles. Being the all-time sack leader of the Texans’ franchise at 54, Watt had a MVP-like season scoring two defensive touchdowns, and an array of pick-sixes to give their fans hope. While the MVP award is highly unlikely due to the emergency of many quarterbacks in the running, Watt would’ve been the first defensive player to win the award since Lawrence Taylor in 1986.
