Highlights From “The Grantland Basketball Hour” Debut on ESPN

They gave Bill Simmons his own show!

The Grantland Basketball Hour premiered on ESPN last night and unfortunately, we missed it because we were too busy watching the Broncos kicking ass against the Chargers. Luckily, Grantland is holding us down with some clips from the debut, which had guests like Doc Rivers, Zach Lowe and Michelle Beadle along Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose (fully equipped with his bat and suit). From what we can see from the clips, the show is a better produced version of their podcasts, graphics and all, which we always love on this side.

During the first clip, the Grantland crew speaks on LeBron James and the new look Cleveland Cavaliers, who Zach argues, is not as good a squad as the 2011 Miami Heat. Michelle Beadle also ends the show by crowning the San Antonio Spurs the champions for the 2014-2015 NBA season, saying they have the whole team back and they are the ones to beat this year.

Doc Rivers also joined the crew to speak on Blake Griffin getting hacked on the block and how teams have used that strategy to keep him from scoring. Coach Rivers was trying to preach the fact that Griffin shouldn’t retaliate, but then video of his time on the court surfaced.

If you missed the show like we did, The Grantland Basketball Hour premiere will replay Saturday at 2 PM EST on ABC and Monday at 8 PM EST on ESPN2.
