Giants Blow Out Royals 11-4 to Even World Series

The Bay Area Giants face another must-win game Sunday Night

Friday, the Kansas City Royals shocked the baseball taking a 2-1 series lead over the San Francisco Giants. That victory ensured the World Series would return home for the mid-west N.L. championships and put immense pressure on the home team Giants to win tonight’s game – as well as tomorrows. Following consecutive losses, San Francisco found themselves in an early 4-1 hole before the bottom of the third inning.

Mike Moustakas obtained an early walk, followed by Eric Hosmer, Omar Infante and Salvador Perez all hitting consecutive singles to give their team the previously mentioned 4-1 lead. San Francisco stuck with their starter Ryan Vogelsong, who got into an early jam; but was fortunate to not allow another run for the entire game. With Kansas City showcasing another epic defensive performance in the outfield making a slew of remarkable catches, the Giants margin of error at the plate was extremely minimal.

San Francisco would slowly chip away at the lead, with a Buster Posey single to left to bring in pinch-hitter Matt Duffy, followed by the player of the game Hunter Pence driving in Joe Panik. With momentum finally shifting to the Giants for the first time in nearly a week, Juan Perez would follow-up with a sac-fly to bring in Pence and tie the game. The Kansas City bullpen, who had been nearly flawless in the last two games, finally saw the emergence of their opponents bats blasting them with 9 runs in three innings.

Royals relief pitcher Brandon Finnegan’s nightmare night continued from the 5th inning, to seeing a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth. Pablo Sandoval would pilot the flood with a single to center, followed immediately by a Brandon Belt hit to center to make it a 3-run game. The bottom the seventh would see the lead further to a 7-run lead for the home team, to ensure at least a game 6 on Tuesday. 0

The pitcher’s duel tomorrow features James Shields and Madison Bumgarner, as the Giants will be looking to continue momentum in their final AT&T Park homegame for 2014 at 8:00pm ET on FOX.
