Derrick Rose vs. Kyrie Irving in Preseason Play

Who got the upper hand?

It’s no secret. One of the plots going into the 2014-2015 NBA season is the duel for Eastern Conference supremacy between the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers. Tonight, fans in Ohio got a sneak peek at what that action might look like in the regular season when the two teams faced off against each other in preseason play.

Although LeBron James quietly had 18 points and 7 assists for the game, the real story was the point guard matchup between Derrick Rose and Kyrie Irving. The two went back and forth and amounted to 58 points combined between them, drawing almost similiar stat lines, especially in the points department. The play of the game went to DR, though.

Peep what he did to Irving on this play:

D. Rose ended the game with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, while Kyrie dropped 28 points, picked up 3 rebounds and had 7 assists in the Cavs 107-98 win.

The Cavs and Bulls will meet again to start the season when they play October 31 in Chicago on ESPN. It’s going to be another grudge match for these two squads, who will be looking to make a run to the NBA Finals and give San Antonio some competition.
