Right in time for the playoffs?

Derrick Rose‘s latest injury took the wind out of the Chicago Bulls‘ championship aspirations, but all hope isn’t lost. After undergoing a successful surgery today, the word from Chi-town is that Rose’s timetable for return will be about 4-6 weeks.

If everything goes well throughout his rehab, D. Rose should be back on the court around March 27, with the latest being April 10 when the season is ending. This is good news for Bulls fans, who might have thought he played the last game of the 2014-2015 season. There’s bad news, though. This last stretch for the Bulls will be a tough one, playing against some Western Conference powers like the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers. The are also going to have go up against the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors during March, two teams fighting for better position in the Eastern Conference.

Aaron Brooks will have to carry the responsibility of facing elite point guards during this stretch, so the rest of the team will have to step in Derrick’s absence.

Although this is the third knee surgery D. Rose has received and folks can be quick to point to long-term problems by putting the cart in front of the horse, Bulls fans should feel relieved that their best player is returning to the court during crunch time. We don’t know as of yet how this latest injury will affect him mentally, but he’s a fighter and having Rose on the court at 80% is better than not having him out there at all.

Get well soon Derrick.
