See Red suffers yet another injury for D-Rose

Remember just a few months ago when the Chicago Bulls had a 2-1 series lead on the Cleveland Cavaliers and were just a Pau Gasol injury away from sending their division rival packing home early? Well, while Bulls fans have been thinking about the what-ifs for over five months, they begin their season with another major injury. Derrick Rose, who’s known for having a fragile state on the court in recent years, suffers a brief set back on the first week of training camp.

Rose was inadvertently struck in the face by an elbow from Taj Gibson during practice and immediately left the floor. Team doctors and trainers ruled that Derrick had suffered a left orbital fracture and is set to undergo surgery Wednesday morning.

At the moment, there’s no timetable set for his return, but the team is hopeful he can play on the team’s October 27th season opener against the team that knocked them out of last spring’s playoffs.
