Denver Nuggets Fire Head Coach Brian Shaw

One team’s multiple losses is another Zen-Master’s gain

After making the NBA playoffs 10 consecutive seasons, the Denver Nuggets missed the post-season last spring with a 36-46 record. Two years removed from firing previous coach of the year George Karl (we’re still trying to figure out why), the team has fired yet another head coach. Brian Shaw, who was in the second year of his tenure with the Mile-High basketball club, has been relieved of his duties from the sidelines.

Shaw was one of the more sought after coaches in 2013, when the Los Angeles Lakers elected not to hire him. He decided to join an injury-prone team, who were fresh from giving the Golden State Warriors a competitive series. This season, however, he wasn’t able to get the team on the page, who are entering their prime year with aspirations of landing a long-term contract. Team president, Josh Kroenke was active during the trade deadline allowing both Timofey Mozgov and Arron Afflalo, which is why they’ve dropped 9 or their last 10 games.

Now back on the open market to accept any opening jobs, we expect Brian Shaw to reunite with Phil Jackson over the summer for the resurrection of the New York Knicks. Whether he’s willing to become an assistant coach isn’t a question, as he’ll potentially be the right hand man for Derek Fisher to run the triangle.
