Highlights from 2016 No. 1 NBA Draft Pick Ben Simmons’ First National Game

Welcome to the Ben Simmons show!

As LSU prepares to buy out the insane contract of College Football coach Les Miles this week, the southern school has put early focus on Men’s Basketball this fall, for their top-25 ranked Tiger’s hoops squad. Monday night, at the Fanduel Legends Classic in Brooklyn of all places (see: the ongoing gambling scandal and banning in NY state), LSU had a national game against Marquette. Fans got a chance to see the upcoming no. 1 overall pick for next June’s NBA Draft.

While the Philadelphia 76ers are an almost guaranteed lock to win the lottery next May, we’re sure Los Angeles Lakers fans are hoping the mini-balls go their way in the ping system. In the words of Frank White, if you don’t know, Ben Simmons is a beast! A seriously phenomenal beast in College Basketball that all coaches, teams, fans and critics are taking notice of this season.

The lanky 6’10 athlete put on a show for attendees in the borough; as he served up a jaw-dropping stat-line of 21 points, 20 rebounds and 7 assist for the night. Ben kind of reminds us of Tracy McGrady for his smooth athleticism and Lamar Odom on ball-handling and decision making on the floor as a point forward – given his size. He still needs to work on his mechanics and develop an outside shot, but many are considering him NBA-ready at this very moment.

We hope he just lands in the hands of the right franchise, to properly help mold his talents and showcase him the right way. Let us know in the comments if you’re sold on his skills for the league.
